Working "in partnership with the community" the Irvine Police Department patrols approximately 70 square miles and is rapidly growing, providing service to over 280,000 persons.
The patrol division of the Irvine Police Department polices in a Geographic Policing model. This means Irvine has been divided into three geographic areas. These areas are based on their geographic location and are known as “Portola,” “University,” and “Crossroads.”
Purpose
We recognize that the City of Irvine is a popular destination for visitors from other cities and countries, including officials, dignitaries, and business leaders. The purpose of this Protocol is to communicate the procedures involved with receiving guests respectfully and responsibly, and accommodating as best we can requests for meetings with City officials and staff.

These international visits serve as an important opportunity for the City to showcase all that Irvine has to offer and build bridges for international understanding and cooperation. The City of Irvine is a diverse community with an international reputation. As such, community interest exists in creating ways to establish relationships with international cities through communication and the sharing of information.
The Friendship Cities Program provides Irvine with an additional opportunity to initiate relationships to promote the City’s future international relations. Friendship city relationships may include the exchange of correspondence between mayors, members of the city council, and other community leaders regarding areas of mutual interest.
Seocho-gu, located in the southern part of Seoul, is surrounded by Mount Cheongae, Mount Umyeon and the Han River. Seoul is divided into 25 "gu" (or districts), including Seocho-gu. With a population of more than 430,000, Seocho-gu is home to numerous cultural and art related facilities and historical sites.
